Is your color palette on point?
When remodeling a room that does not offer much natural light, staying with a light color palette is usually the best choice. This may seem obvious, but you would be surprised at how many customers I have worked with that become enamored with certain materials or finishes, without considering their specific setting. Actually this has happened to all of us: you see beautifully-stained cabinetry or a rare granite countertop at a friend’s house, and it immediately becomes a ‘must have.’ As with any big-ticket purchase, take a step back, sleep on it, and get a second opinion. Are these materials compatible with the decor of your home? Is premium-dollar granite worth the investment? Does the room offer enough natural light to justify dark finishes?
In the case of this kitchen remodeling job in Colleyville, I was lucky that the homeowners realized the obvious about their particular kitchen. They knew they wanted a complete update, AND they realized that going light was the right choice. The white custom cabinetry went perfect with the Danby Marble countertop and backsplash. For added warmth and texture, the island countertop was done in a Walnut block material.
